LTTC to Host 2017 Asian Association for Language Assessment AALA Conference
The next annual international conference of the Asian Association for Language Assessment (AALA) will be held in Taipei in 2017.
With sponsorship from the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs, ROC, which has established a plan to increase the number of international conferences and exhibitions held in Taiwan, the Language Training & Testing Center (LTTC) participated in the AALA 2016 conference and presented their proposal for hosting the next AALA conference. Via the proposal, which was praised by the AALA Executive Board Members and the association’s institutional and individual members for its thorough planning, the LTTC obtained the right to host the AALA 2017 conference. As the host of this event, the LTTC is hoping to attract internationally renowned scholars and practitioners of foreign languages and assessment from around the world to attend the international conference in Taipei and to experience the beauty of Taiwan.
In recent years, Asian countries have increasingly played a crucial role in the world economy. Recognizing the importance of speaking foreign languages for global connections and interactions, Asian countries have started to place greater emphasis on language teaching and assessment. Consequently, AALA was founded in 2014 with the aim of creating a platform for exchanging views on language testing and assessment and for investigating the need for further development of language testing and evaluation in Asia, thereby elevating Assessment Literacy in Asia. Since AALA was established, it has held international conferences in China, Thailand, and Indonesia. For more information, please visit http://www.aalawebsite.com/
