College Student English Proficiency Test (CSEPT)
The College Student English Proficiency Test (CSEPT) was developed by the Language Training and Testing Center (LTTC) to meet the needs of colleges and universities to evaluate the effects of English teaching and to assess students' progress in English. It was launched in 1997.
Valid and reliable:
The CSEPT accurately measures test takers' abilities to understand spoken and written English in the context of student life as well as their knowledge of English grammar and usage. It consists of two levels of assessment. Level 1 is intended for students with elementary to intermediate levels of English proficiency. Level 2 is intended for students with intermediate to advanced levels of English proficiency. In responding to the 2030 Bilingual Policy, the CSEPT Speaking and Writing Tests were introduced in 2022. The tests can measure students’ English Speaking and Writing proficiency across CEFR levels A2 to B2.
Useful test results:
The CSEPT, a norm-referenced test, is a useful tool for student placement, assessment of learning achievement, and application as a graduation requirement. Test users may set different passing scores according to their needs. Test results are referenced to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Flexible and fast:
The CSEPT is administered on-site at the request of individual educational institutions. Results are available within three weeks. Both individual and group score reports are provided.
