The translation fully conveys the content of the original text, is well organized and coherent, and demonstrates effective control of sentence structure. Errors are rarely found in vocabulary, grammar, spelling, punctuation, or capitalization.

The translation does not adequately convey the content of the original text, lacks sufficient organization and coherence, and demonstrates limited control of sentence structure. Errors in vocabulary and grammar, spelling, punctuation, or capitalization impede satisfactory completion of the task.
2 Demonstrates little competence in translation
The translation only partially conveys the content of the original text, lacks organization and coherence, and demonstrates little control of sentence structure. Most sentences are incomprehensible. Serious errors are found in grammar, spelling, punctuation, or capitalization.

5 Responses appropriately answer questions; speaks fluently; expresses himself clearly and in an organized manner. Pronunciation, intonation correct and natural. Grammar correct, and vocabulary used with facility. While there are occasional errors, he can still communicate effectively.
4 In general, responses appropriately answer questions. Pronunciation, intonation generally accurate and natural. Knows enough vocabulary, grammatical structures to express himself, and can easily answer questions on general topics. While there are still some errors in usage, these do not hinder communication.
3 Able to answer questions on topics with which he is familiar. Although he doesn't speak fluently, he has a grasp of basic grammatical structures and vocabulary; at the same time, errors sometimes influence communication. Some errors in pronunciation, intonation.
2 Does a fair job of answering questions on topics with which he is familiar. Numerous errors in pronunciation, intonation; limited vocabulary and grammatical structures; replies mostly in incomplete sentences; expression difficult; communication often hindered.
