About FLPT

The LTTC's Foreign Language Proficiency Test (FLPT)—the best choice for language assessment.
Available in English, Japanese, French, German, and Spanish.

Features of the FLPT:

Valid and reliable:

The FLPT is a norm-referenced test which accurately and consistently measures test takers' general language proficiency. It contains a multiple-choice section for testing listening, usage, vocabulary & reading skills, a Simulated Oral Proficiency Interview speaking section, and a performance-based writing section. The first section is machine-scored while the latter two sections are scored by trained raters.

Widely used and recognized:

The FLPT is suitable for foreign language learners at all levels. It has been used by more than 400 public and private institutions to help select candidates for recruitment, promotion, and overseas training programs.

Useful test results:

In addition to test scores, score descriptors are provided to help test takers understand their level of proficiency and to assist test users in setting different passing scores according to their needs. Test results are also referenced to the General English Proficiency Test (GEPT), which has been mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). (FLPT Score Scale)

Flexible and fast:

The FLPT is administered on a regular basis. Additional tests may be given at the request of individual institutions. Results are available four weeks after the test date.
