The LTTC English Learner Corpus
The LTTC English Learner Corpus (LTTC-ELC) is jointly developed by the Language Training & Testing Center (LTTC) and the Graduate Institute of Linguistics at National Taiwan University (GIL, NTU). The LTTC-ELC contains more than 2 million words from over 12,000 writing responses to the General English Proficiency Test (GEPT). The texts have been graded by trained human raters and tagged with parts of speech so that researchers can investigate linguistic phenomena among different English levels.
There are three search modes in this corpus, all of which are open for free use: (1) Keyword search, (2) Collocation search, and (3) Ngram search. Users can choose the search mode that is appropriate to their needs.
The corpus enables English teachers to understand the problems students often encounter in learning English and serves as a reference for planning the next stage of teaching. For detailed instructions, please refer to the tutorial on our corpus website. Should you have any questions about the corpus, please contact td@lttc.ntu.edu.tw.
